Is that TOS Spock has actually five romantic scenes in the whole series, in which the first time he was drugged, the second time he was acting, the third time he was being controlled like a puppet, the fourth time was in an episode so out of character that even Leonard Nimoy complained about it, and the fifth time was because he was being turned into an emotional pre-logical vulcan. I mean if you actually watched the original series you know that Spock would never accept his feelings for someone so fast. The 2009 movie may be Star Trek XI, but it’s the first movie of the reboot, they’re introducing the characters to a new generation of fans who never watched TOS and I think they’re completely missing the point about Spock being a vulcan and having no emotions and all that stuff that is so important in the original series.
If they wanted to put a romantic scene in the movie so badly they could have put Uhura with Scotty, since it’s cute and canon.
#because when it comes down to it I think that’s what bothered me the most #that the essence of spock’s character was more or less completely disregarded in the reboot #yeah he strives to be completely vulcan #at FIRST #but then oh look#but then suddenly he’s with not only a human woman #but his STUDENT #so unless there’s some big unknown scene involving a revelation of self on spock’s part that us viewers missed out on #I’m not buying it #because it just #doesn’t#make #any #fucking #SENSE
